INSPIRATION

Philippa Crawford has been an artist for 20 years and has been making
art-to-wear brooches for 12 of them. The idea behind the brooches was that
people could have a small piece of real art to take with them into daily life
and the idea and end result is as innovative and fresh today as it was at its inception.

Philippa was born and currently lives in Edinburgh, Scotland UK.
She has lived abroad for a large part of her life, spending most of the time in France, Sweden and California.

The main influences on her work are the natural world - organic and elemental
forms and materials - and the traditional arts of Japan.

Inspiration is also drawn from the work of artists Mark Rothko, Robert Motherwell, Andy Goldsworthy, Aboriginal art and ritual, artifacts and paintings from the Ottoman Empire and textiles from all over the world.
